Dishwasher Detergent Cascade Complete / B002SB95ZK
I hate pre-washing as a huge wash of water, and where I live we try to ration it as much as possible in the summer months. These little Cascade Complete pouches probably aren’t the most eco-friendly alternative (although they are at least phosphate-free apparently), but they really do get dried residue off the dishes where our more eco-friendly dishwasher detergent starting needing two and even three cycles before the dishes were clean.

Granted, Cascade Complete All in 1 Pacs is the best product on the market to clean dishes and do it well.
I’m giving five stars because the product is excellent and because it is so easy to use: Place the little, pre-measured, pre-packed packet into the dish washing slot, close the door, select your wash mode, then go do whatever you need to do. Cascade and your dishwasher will take over.
And that’s the real reason for this review! I’m really annoyed by this product. Why so, you may ask even though I gave five stars?
I first noticed this trend when lettuce appeared in plastic bags already cut up. Just open, dump, add other ingredients (which you can also buy pre-cut, except for tomatoes) and there’s a salad. Little fuss.
Another example: I bought a new clothes washer a year ago. Yes, it’s a good product: washes perfectly, cleans as perfectly as possible. Again, my objection? I am not allowed to control my water levels. I put in detergent and other products (or not), set all the dials on the panel, then press Start and that wonderful ol’ clothes washer takes over. Think Hal, if you will. What happens if you open the lid? No, no, no–you broke the rules and the silliest thing occurs: Instead of the water fill-level stopping at low (for example a small load of undies and other hand washables), it now automatically fills up to the brim, to the top, at the highest level. That will teach you, Homemaker, for interfering with Hal’s automatic sensor which determines water levels. Oh give me a break. I want control of my clothes washer again.
So what does an automatic water-level sensor have to do with Cascade’s pacs? Control. Sure, the person who puts dishes into the dishwasher, then drops a pac (OK, I can see the Pac Man spelling) into the little cup, will have the proper amount of soap, not too much, not too little, but just right. Yes, I see the fairy tale existence of our lives, but like the Three Bears, I want my control back!!
Or maybe not.

I was using another brand but got some of these as a sample used them-loved them brought some! I have an older dishwasher its hard to run a load and not have water left behind with other types of residues these cleared all that up my dishes are dry and clean!

These are fantastic. They don’t leave a trace, they clean the dishes perfectly, and they are compact and easy to store. I love that there is nothing to unwrap or dispose of aside from the plastic container that houses them, since they fully dissolve in the dishwasher. The 48-pack is a great size and lasts a long time. I will never again mess around with liquids and powders when this great option exists.

My dishwasher has a dual stage soap dispenser. Fill both and close one.
This I just put one pouch in the open container and so far the dishes are great.
Just like the their powder the scent out of the container makes me sneeze but nothing is left after the wash. I even ‘peeked’ in the door a time or two to see if it was dissolving and they are not kidding, it does. Have dry hands and I don’t keep them under the sink if you have moisture even though they come in a plastic container.
